about me
I came to Medicine Hat as a 17-year-old without much direction. Raised by a single mother with two siblings, and with a father struggling with addiction, I learned early the importance of resilience, responsibility, and community. I spent a year at Medicine Hat College, gaining valuable experience that helped me get my feet under me before transferring to the University of Alberta, where I graduated with Distinction from the Alberta School of Business in 2010 with a degree in Business Economics & Law, and was named the U of A Métis Scholar in 2010.
I have over a decade of experience in HR and Talent Management. I spent nine years at Shell Energy, focusing on major projects and employee engagement strategies, followed by three years at Suncor Energy, developing talent strategies for senior leadership.
After starting a family, my wife Kayla and I committed to raising our children in Medicine Hat, drawn by affordability, proximity to family, and the benefits of a smaller, welcoming city. We are proud parents to Beckett (9) and Eloise (7).
Upon returning to Medicine Hat after COVID, I left the energy industry to found Cousins Skateboard Community—a grassroots non-profit dedicated to empowering Indigenous youth, building community, and advancing reconciliation. This work combines my corporate experience with hands-on community engagement, allowing me to bridge worlds—from the boardroom to the skatepark—while fostering inclusion, mentorship, and connection.
My story is one of resilience, community, and purpose. I bring professional expertise, lived experience, and a deep commitment to creating meaningful impact, and I am ready to bring that perspective to City Council.
